Non-Equilibrium Solidifcation, Modelling for Microstructure Engineering of Industrial Alloys. The investigations of this topical team will concentrate on crystal growth conditions and on their impact on microstructure development for industrial materials, the ultimate aim is to develop accurate models of crystal growth for these materials, which will enable us to effectively grow custom materials with optimal properties for the tasks for which they are required. This research programe has recently been merged with both the 'Dendrite Growth Velocities in Dilute Alloy melts: Tests of Solidification Theory on Technologically Relevant Materials' research programme and the 'Dendrite Growth Velocities in Aluminium-Based Alloys' research project.
