Metastable Solidification of Composites: Novel Peritectic Strucutres and In-Situ Composites.

The aim of this project is to improve the processing of commercial peritectic alloys through microstructure control e.g. through the development of a phase selection model, and of a model predicting the pushing/engulfment of particles by a growing dendritic front. The output of these microstructure models will be compared to experimental data obtained in 1- and in 0g environments.
