The International Microgravity Plamsa Facility

The goal is to understand the fundamental physical processes governing the self-ordering of strongly coupled plasmas, their properties and their stability under various conditions. Also, to derive tools and methods for designing new composite materials in the plasma environement, followed by deposition on a substrate, e.g. complex nanoporous materials containing mixtures of semiconductors, ceramics, glasses, and metals. Identification of applications for these materials in microelectronics and medicine. Novel particle manipulation and controlled deposition technologies, and improvement of surface coating processes for various materials.
