Columnar-Equiaxed Transition in Solidification Processing.

This research programmes ultimate goal is to improve the intergral modelling of grain structure in industrially important castings. This will be achieved by increasing the quantitative understanding of the basic physical principles governing microstructure formation in solidification processes, under diffusive conditions and with fluid flow in the melt.
